"There is a great little footnote to the campaign the Coastwatchers (Australian volunteers armed with a radio) were lucky enough to be under the flight path of the Japanese land based aircraft. Gave the US pilots enough early warning to get up above the Japs. "Footnote: I went to a fairly high fashion show n Ho Chi Minh city about X years back with my Viet wife. (her uncle owned a fashion house) VERY upscale and contrasting with the "forward together" type propaganda posters outside a lot. The models came out - Im quite willing to bet 9/10ths of them were mixed girls all tall stunning clotheshorses. I wonder how manys mothers were mixed from the Vietnam war days"
