"💯 I completely agree. The inscription numbers are as important if not more so than rare sats (which I have never believed in because Bitcoin is fungible). Projects brands collections and certainly the entire contents of my wallet have been built around inscription numbers. I think the proposal sets an awful precedent of flip floppy poor development practice. If this was just any software package it wouldn't matter but when real value is stored against the system it cannot just be changed and then changed back because someone had another idea.
