"Yes I agree the risk of rodenticide poisoning is much greater outside Central Park. I believe that rodenticides weren't use in the Park during raptor breeding season but subsequently are being used selectively (unclear). I really hope Flaco isn't unlucky out there. I think he saw that a recent WSJ about Flaco received a lot of readership and engagement then decided to stir the pot by writing a negative op-ed. He left Central Park at the beginning of November but returned to the area after a few weeks though he has almost entirely roosted outside the park behind buildings in the Upper West Side. "I agree. Some people (including acquaintances who should know better) are crowding around this small tree for protracted periods of time during daylight while chit-chatting and even arguing. I have loved how happy some have been to get their lifer LEOs or see their first LEOs in a long while. It is a gift to the birding community that they were found and reported so that all could have an equal chance to see them. Disturbing the LEOs hogging space etc. is a poor way to be thankful for that gift. Sometimes it just isn't possible to respectfully get a clear look at the subject for either"

"An extreme few have nurtured an absurd agenda to get Flaco re-captured even after all this time and at any cost. Anything Flaco does can somehow become a reason to support recapturing him. Whether its hooting too long or potentially eating pigeons. Well the secret is out now. Pigeons are good enough for our native raptors (including red-tailed hawks and peregrine falcons) and certainly good enough for Flaco. They are an abundant non-native species and I think they pose fewer health risks than rats outside Central Park. Flaco has always been clever and goes for easy prey. We have seen him find"
