"While working at Samsung HQ in Korea I used to travel to the US almost every month for X years. Korean companies are HQ driven. They need to ensure very close alignment with the subsidiaries. Engineers at HQ need to support subsidiaries in production planning and ramp up (Many core technologies are developed at the HQ so knowledge transfer takes time). It's not that these companies are trying to replace American jobs. The goal is usually to perform tasks that America based workforce can't do (yet). "In terms of speed Cache is the fastest. Then it is DRAM. NAND is slow m so is HDD. Computer architecture has been defined with a hierarchical memory setup since forever. You can charge high margins as customers are small is size and dont have negotiation power. $TXN is the industry's benchmark on how to run a broad based semi business.
