"Rivet is focused on the TypeScript ecosystem at the moment (but we're built in Rust) for a couple reasons: - There is no popular actor lib for JS unlike Akka for Java Orleans for C# OTP for Erlang - JS is frequently deployed as serverless more than any other lang so we have a lot of specialized engineering for this We do plan to support other languages in the future (esp Go Rust Python) but that's too far out for me to speculate how we'll compare head-to-head. "maybe someone at cf can correct me the blog posts have not talked about DO placement within the same DC. my understanding is it's based on the virtual actor pattern which rehydrates the state from storage medium on wake. sec. 3.8) you're right that unlike nfs where every iop goes over the network my assumption is DO has a single writer and loads state on the same machine on wake. sqlite is really easy to lazily load using the vfs then get the in-memory performance that they talk about a lot for follow up queries. i very well might be wrong"
