"This occurred in a unique situation. The graupel and snow fell then quickly melted on the car yesterday. That then "beaded" up on your cars paint similarly to when it rains. In this case the temperatures were tanking fast. That caused those "rain beads" to freeze quickly creating what looked like Dippin' Dots.
