"Some people want to defend him based on what he did decades ago. In the 1990s & early 2000s Pavone was more or less the top pro-life voice. This would include homilies on EWTN etc. We even used X of them as a model in homiletics class. He externally seemed like a model priest. However since then he's done a bunch that makes his laicization deserved. I did a timeline (link) just after his laicization that would be especially helpful for someone like you who came into Catholicism long after his peak"
