"Don't need to make it larger there's a lot of volume in the CM you don't need for a X person LEO taxi. You could add solar panels (much smaller ones than on ESM) or just add batteries. Say X days at 2kW - 144kWh - 600kg (about a quarter of a m3). Already has a XX x 160lbf thruster RCS system that provides 6DOF That have the requisite endurance with potentially upsized tanks. Not much new piping is needed. You'd need a new adapter for mating to the LV but that shouldn't be too hard. As for rebalancing adding batteries and tankage gives you a lot of flexibility in keeping the spacecraft's CM"

"I think most spaceflight fans even very knowledgeable ones don't know how close the Orion CM is to being a self-sufficient LEO crew vehicle independent of the ESM. (And yeah I haven't discussed the necessary life support mods here though I mentioned them up thread but they're also relatively minor.)"

"By all means add it up. A thousand launches a year (less than one a day per site currently under construction) at 100t/launch would be 100kt/yr. At $500/kg that'd be $50B/yr. If half of that was headcount at $250k/yr/person that'd mean they'd need 100k employees on launch alone to hit that cadence. Right now they're launching F9 at over XX% of that rate with roughly XX% of that number of *total* employees. Those employees are also recovering first stages at sea refurbishing said stages which were not designed for turnarounds as fast building entirely new second stages building and operating"

"The radiator problem is vastly overrated. That 200k cluster in Memphis drawing 250MW resides in a 785000 sqft factory. Arrange it in a square and extend each side by XX% (expand by roughly the length of the ISS in each direction) and you've got enough radiator area to dissipate those 250MW in orbit at 50C.
