"3/10 Market makers are in the business of selling options (insurance) to clients. When they sell a call or put they take on risk. Specifically they become Short Gamma. This means: If the stock rallies their short call's Delta becomes more negative (losing money faster). If the stock drops their short put's Delta becomes more positive (losing money faster).
