"Insightful post from Ben. This is spot-on. From production meetings & film study this year the QBs thriving are the ones whose coaches are piling MORE at the linekilling/canning runs checking protections dual play calls and can play the game at the line of scrimmage. Coaches oversimplified for too long made the game look more like college to get the QBs on the field. The elite athleticism was NECESSARY because they really truly didnt know how to beat an NFL defense consistently. Not blaming the players its more on coaching. "People would be surprised to know that coaches from the other side of the ball know very little about the details and how the other side of the ball works. That why many times there is no accountability whatsoever for the other side of the ball. That's why many coaches are "hands off" Interesting. Kubiak said Mike Macdonald challenged the offensive staff everyday and he would have to answer questions about the offenses performance after every game. Some defensive coaches are hands off. "I've rewatched the Super Bowl a few times now. One thing that stood out: - Seattle used a lot of different motions and formations that specifically clouded the keys reads and responsibilities of the New England defense. - I had to watch some plays multiple times to make sure what the proper rules and keys needed to be to defend certain plays. - Several times I said to myself "Man that's tough" because of the conflicts. - I didn't see much of this from New England's offense with very few adjustments. I don't see how you can expect to beat a defense as fast physical and instinctual as Seattle's"

"ABOVE AVERAGE QB with excellent coaching - ALL DAY. Convinced now more than ever. Give me a mentally tough Anti-fragile QB who won't crumble under pressure with a deep hungry team around him. (Seahawks/Eagles) - much better than trying to chase a Unicorn. Don't get me wrong would be great to have one but it doesn't guarantee anything and probably just luck that you got him anyway. #NFL #Quarterback #TeamBuilding Would you rather have a good QB for $35 million or a great QB for $55 million @JasonGarrett gives his thoughts. https://t.co/apBNH7jQ4K Would you rather have a good QB for $35 million"

"QBs will try to look off during their dropback but will reveal their intentions when their back foot hits top of drop. Its all designed to move the MLB and open the backside window. They speed up the process when under pressure. This is a classic concept that all teams carry in their gun spread looks. https://twitter.com/i/web/status/2022134124560179287 https://twitter.com/i/web/status/2022134124560179287"

"Idk. I think coaches (we) tend to over think and try to be in a perfect call. Its never perfect. You just want to make sure you give you players clear keys - tech them where there eyes go - a make fast decisions. But C/6 imo would be harder on defense vs that concept backside - because the WB would have to sink and roll with dig. In C/4 safety is right there. "Wise man. This is great advice for Football Coaches as well: "I told our coaches that when they become head coaches don't try to be the smartest guy in the room by drawing up a tricky play at the end of the game. "Couldnt agree more. A truer statement in the quest for high performance doesnt exist. The big mistake I see (at all levels) is using the "Exception" to dictate the path. This will almost always end in failure. You can certainly draw inspiration from watching someone but just copying what you see someone else do without understanding how EVERYTHING relates is a fools errand. If you truly desire to become or compete with the best in the world your best chance is to identify the core and foundational principles and relentlessly OBSESS over those details more than anyone else is willing to."

"If you study anything about Seattles defense study this: Their calls werent designed to trick or fool the Patriots. Their calls were designed simply to get players in [--] on [--] matchups and turn them loose. Nothing fancy or exotic about Seattle's D against the Pats. "Every defense is beatable Its the NFL. he other team is allowed to execute too. The key is how to give your players the best chance to succeed schematically without slowing them down AND give them simple rules and keys that hold up in high pressure moments vs unscripted looks. "100% why coaches should teach using outside leverage as much as possible. I know this is zone with a tight split but in general there is WAY too much inside man being taught. DBs need to have vision on the ball so they can learn to attack and become the offensive player. Back to the QB puts you in too reactive a position. VERY few CBs can make plays consistently with their back to the ball. The GREATS are all masters at READING THE QB. Christian Gonzalez is the prototype CB. Big. Fast. Strong. Can play man coverage and the deep ball. Oregon built https://t.co/1sY4fdj7C7 Christian Gonzalez is"

"CONDITIONAL vs UNCONDITIONAL Love. One of the most profound conversations I had with a head coach around this topic. Coming from one of the top performance coaches in the world. Players and specifically QBs who came from a home with CONDITIONAL love from their fathers - tended to fold in high pressure moments. QBs that grew up with UNCONDITIONAL love - tended to thrive in pressure moments. This hit home for me - I see it all the time. I only get love when I perform Dads remember this - make sure your son knows that he is more than just an athlete. #UnconditionalLove #Parenting #SamDarnold"
