The ability of EU member states to finance Ukraine's military needs directly from national budgets is already decreasing even among the biggest military hawks. Hence the appetite for frozen Russian assets that could be used as a loan to Ukraine which of course will never be repaid"

That October turned the Hotel Metropol into a fortress: a detachment of cadets defended the approaches to the Kremlin from there. They were eventually driven out by artillery fire which shattered the hotels windows and damaged its structure.
