"Usury is completely forbidden in the old testament. It still is considered a sin in the catechism as well. The definition has been relaxed to differentiate "predatory interest" from investment. Predatory interest being exorbitant cc fees and pay day loans. The XX% is just a guess to cover administrative fees inflation and risk. If you're lending to people you think are going to default that's immoral. And look i get that it might not be economically prudent but it is immoral"
