"When I went out to raise Fund III in March I assumed an existing anchor would anchor the fund but wasn't sure. Took nearly XXX calls in March soft circled around 10M. Two months went by without a committed anchor. Will never forget waking up on April X to not one not two but three rejection emails from large institutional investors in a single day. Would be lying if I said I didn't think I would fail at the time. Another month went by another few million committed. Still sweating. Got an email on May X asking if I had a few minutes to chat from an existing LP. Went for a walk to a quiet place"
