"INDIA STORY FOR YA - I ran out of protein bars so our solar plant out in the boonies XX minutes from any kind of restaurant had a "canteen" or mess hall that served local Indian food. You have to understand. XX% of food in India is vegetarian. The other X% is "non-veg." So this canteen served things like large cricket-like insects in a red sauce. I refused to eat there. But having run out of protein bars I decided to try to eat at the canteen. Big mistake. I don't remember what I had but I chose the least-gross looking mush and choked it down. Now I know it sounds like I'm blaming the canteen"

"Pantsers vs. Plotters This is an impotent discussion. If you write by the seat of your pants you can end up going down rabbit holes leading to you deleting hundreds of pages you labored over. If you meticulously plot out the book it can be wooden predictable plodding. Best to be both. I'm not saying my method is "the way" but I'll spool up a document I call The Plan. I'll fill it with a dozen plot points of where I think the book is going. I write a prologue and chapter X. I go back to The Plan and turn a bullet point into a detailed description of what happened. By the time the book is done"

He shows up at my boat one day the Cold-War-winning USS HAMMERHEAD and he's all star-struck that he's in the same crew with his old first class midshipman who hazed him. By then we were the same rank full lieutenants. So we had some adventures as submariners are bound to do. At one point he made a pass at Wife XXX (she was pretty back in the day). I didn't care.
