"Oman attempted to sell Gwadar to India but Jawaharlal Nehru rejected the offer. Today this decision is one of the most criticized aspects of Nehrus legacy in India. In 1783 the Sultan of Oman after being exiled arrived in Gwadar. The Khan of Kalat granted Gwadar to him as a fief. When the Sultan regained power in Oman he incorporated Gwadar into Omans territory. Thus Gwadar remained under Omani control for approximately XXX years. The Omani government not only collected taxes from Gwadar but also appointed its governor administration and military personnel from Oman. Omani currency was used"
