"Lets get some facts straight here. The current balance of the social security trust fund is $XXX trillion. The problem is that starting in 2021 the payout from the fund exceeded the tax revenues coming in leading to the risk of the fund running out in 2035. This in part is caused by the fund being used to finance our US debt receiving lower income because they bought treasuries. Also and obvious is the problem of fewer current workers paying in while the larger baby boomers population is retired or retiring. Also to be clear social security does not contribute to the US debt of $XX trillion."
