"Thats quite disturbing. I believe for that particular instance US steel mills were to blame. This issue didnt exist for Japanese made 4Runners of same vintage. Unfortunately modern tacos and tundras with turbos are junk and even Lexus GX body panels are melting in the sun. My theory is buy or lease domestic truck and swap at X years or 60k miles if one can afford it or buy on business"

Germany tried this in the 1920s Theres another one going around that African geologists discovered another huge deposit and thats what caused the price of gold to collapse on Friday. "The problem is historically speaking mining has not produced income for the equity holders. Rather the suppliers get rich. In pure theory a mine is a depreciating asset. All you're doing is shifting things from "in ground" part of balance sheet to cash then out to expenses. A mining company is just a collection of declining terminal deposits. They also rarely pay (meaningful) dividends. So that's the prosaic answer no mysticism or manipulation or anything like that"
