ES and NQ are market capitalization weighted indices meaning "high market cap assets" (mostly tech giants) drive their price movements. Since these leaders overlap heavily they make ES & NQ move in tandem becasue the same stocks are dictating direction for both. YM however is price weighted: means "high price stocks" (not necessarily high cap) lead the charge. These can shift with price fluctuations or splits creating inconsistent "direction"
