"First Ive been away for a bit. Hiking on the High Sierra trail in Sequoia National Park as well as the Lakes trail and other amazing places. We then traveled to Big Sur and did some coastal hiking as well as some short forays into the hills of Los Padres National Forest. These were incredible trips that brought me back to fundamentals. We saw bear elk otters seals marmots chipmunks deer etc all from the wild and long trails of our great western ranges. Upon my return home to Durham I learned that my 86-year-old father almost died. Thanks to a heart bypass surgery earlier this week he is now"
