"Kyoto is one of the most overrated places I have ever visited. The tourist spots are overrun as Coby said AND super Disneyland-esque - everything there is fake af lol. Especially Fushimi Inari Taisha (the steps with red pillars). All the pillars look like cheap Ikea furniture manufactured in China back in the 80s. Outside the tourist spots As ghost town as it gets. Clean sure but super quiet boring sterile and vapid. I recommend staying in Osaka and just doing a day trip out to Kyoto (it's only X hr by train). Save your time and money"
