"Justice John Marshall Harlan earned the title of The Great Dissenter for his minority opinions on the Supreme Court in support of civil rights; the most famous of which came in Plessy v. Ferguson58 years later his dissent in Plessy became the Courts unanimous decision in Brown v. Board of Education. This was the beginning of the end of segregation and a major win for civil rights. Harlans dissent in Plessy was not popular. But throughout American history Kentuckians have had a tendency to lead instead of follow. Thats something we should all be proud of. And its a tradition that has its roots"
