"Liberalisms success was in no small part down to the fact that it made not caring into a virtue. It is a lazy untaxing ideology that requires little thought and doesnt demand very much of us. At its root its a politics of indifference. We are told not to care who are neighbours are where they come from how they behave what they think and believe so long as they pay a little tax. We are made to feel as there is nothing we can do or should want to do to halt the change unfolding in our country. This has always struck me as a deeply unsatisfactory way to approach life. Which is why"

Even when I was young politics hadn't yet taken over every aspect of our lives and if we weren't interested in it we could largely ignore politics outside of election times.
