"48 hrs later and here we are. The only thing I have moderate confidence in is this looks like CAD. Now CAD doesnt automatically mean frozen precipitation or a certain type of frozen precipitation. It might just mean a cold rain for CAD prone areas or in fact something else. So many days before this upcoming weekend but this doesnt feel like a widespread event outside of CAD prone areas there might actually be a thunderstorm threat outside of those areas. "For the time period that we have been watching the Euro Ensembles battle the Euro AI Ensembles the WPC has highlighted the areas in light green with a 10%-30% of seeing or exceeding [----] Liquid Equivalent of Snow/Sleet. "I wish I would have paid more attention to Euro Ens v Euro AI Ens this past couple of month and how we can use them together. With this weekends system it seems that the Euro AI Ensembles was able to sniff out the general track and general forcing factors much quicker than the Euro Ensembles but it seems the Euro Ensembles have the edge in all other things. I believe this was the case with the ice storm in the Southeast as well but I cant say for certain. A lot of the time we play the ensembles against each other but these AIs are part of a brave new world time to see what they are good at"

Little valleys or bowls can trap the cold air and be 3-5 colder than somewhere 1/4 mile away. So therefore you might be in the Metro and sitting at [--] with a decent ice accumulation rate.
