My understanding of the synthetic strategy is that the fund will purchase a core long dated call option and simultaneously purchased a long dated put option. This gives them very similar price movements to $MSTR stock and then they can sell call options against that position to fund distribution. (This part is more nuanced) but eventually the core long dated options position reaches expiration and essentially expires worthless as the call and put cancel each other"
