"an msi 4080s user posted several pictures of the pcb showing one of the vcore mosfets exploded. there is a fuse on the 16pin side but it is for the vram mosfets so i guess it probably cant protect the vcore mosfets from blowing up. it is actually lucky when vcore mosfets blow up instead of vram mosfets because a failed vram mosfet is likely to kill the GPU die along with all the vram chips. but it is unlikely for a failed vcore mosfet to kill the gpu core. the purpose of the fuse is to prevent a massive blowup. msi is well known for placing fuses on the gpu pcb to protect valuable chips. btw"
