"Your question "Why are we seeing so much aurora lately" The correct answer is we just passed solar maximum that's the reason on the declining side of solar maximum Coronal Holes play a major factor in seeing the aurora. Unfortunately after the SIRCIR hits the aurora usually peters out this year the East has been favoured for the arrival of the SIRCIR's"

""The Choice is Yours" Jumping Pound Alberta 20260121T0200-0330Z The first substorm of the evening started as soon as darkness began to fall. The solar wind conditions were not that great for mid latitude aurora but the Bz had been South for several hours and the hemispheric power was strong enough to drive the geomagnetic conditions to a G3 level this was mainly due to the reverberations in our magnetosphere as it recovered from the previous day CME impact. I would like to thank the ladies from the Calgary Ladies Aurora Club for being so respectful with their headlamps and car lights and for being so entertaining rarely do I meet people shooting the aurora and it was all that much better in"

"Hmmmm from what I've read there is no difference between a Proton Aurora and an Isolated Proton Aurora except their location in reference to the aurora band. this is probably the best example of a RAGDA event that I have taken the Proton aurora is embedded into a SAR arc which by the way turned into a SAID aka STEVE event later in the morning"

"With the main bulk of the CIR past us the Bz swings North and the density drops out one will be hard pressed to catch the aurora at mid latitudes tonight also toss in a waxing gibbous Moon(85% full).
