Fergus filed a lawsuit against the Ontario Hockey League and the Otters six years ago alleging that he received improper medical care after suffering a serious eye injury during a game in Pennsylvania in the 2016-17 playoffs. The litigation continues and earlier this year Fergus's lawyer filed court documents saying he is now suing for $10M up from $1M in his initial claim.
