"I'm kind of torn on that personally. I fundamentally don't agree with protectionist policies and they never work right but there is something to be said for leveling the playing field. Still I think we have to focus our efforts on creating the needed workforce and infra before we even consider using blunt force stuff like tariffs. Early trump metal tariffs created huge price issues for our industry they didn't expect - just shot prices up because we didn't have domestic capacity to support the reshoring effort.
