"Found this thread and its actually insane. A lot of people dont know this but before Pepe ever existed Matt Furie had a character called $Hoppy and that design ended up inspiring $Pepe later on. The creator of this thread went digging for prototype versions of other Boys Club characters $Brett $Landwolf $Andy and couldnt find anything. So he tried the impossible and asked Matt directly. DMs were locked nothing worked until a friend of his (who Matt met at Comic Con and follows) sent the message for him. And Matt replied the same day. $Hoppy walked so $Pepe could run.
