"Geen misverstand ik ben zeker op de hoogte van de bestaande regeling. Twee essentile verschillen: - vrijstelling vermogen van 59k geldt nu maar komt te vervallen - forfait rendement is 36% van maximaal 6% daarboven. Dit is de facto een vermogensbelasting van circa 2% over het bedrag boven de vrijstelling. Daarbij kon bij minder rendement bezwaar worden gemaakt. De nieuwe wet belast alle waardestijging met een vrijstelling van 1.800-. Het is volgens mij juist deze verschillen die de meeste mensen (inclusief veel politici blijkbaar) niet snappen. Daardoor overziet men niet wat een drama dit"

"By way of correction the judgement held that fictional gains (on the basis of the model of an assumed return) was unlawful the judgement did not force the taxation of unrealized gains. Parliament would have been well within its rights not to in fact there was a proposed amendment just last week which was voted down which would have prevented this. "Stel je voor een VOC schip vertrok in augustus met lading vanuit Indonesi naar Nederland en zou in februari aankomen. Echter wordt het schip in januari voor de Portugese kust gekaapt. De lading was onderweg een miljoen gulden meer waard geworden maar wordt in beslag genomen door de Portugesen. Naast het commercile verlies waren de eigenaren dan 360k verschuldigd aan de staat.
