The fundamental difference there is that AI is a purely virtual problem whereas quantum computing (IIUC) entails significant problems in the physical world which we're not nearly as good at solving these days. You are right that openmindedness and light caution are never bad - what I object to is the idea that this is bitcoin's "biggest risk."
