"Off topic - Many url shortener providers ( mailchimp for e.g. ) at scale have target url encoded in short url itself as an argument. In redis have a small lua script that decodes and redirects. Most ppl was url shortener for tracking as oppose to actual short url. Twitter itself allows a lot of char in a tweet compared to yester years"
