"Key takeaways from the Return Stacked Q325 Commentary: Trend sleeve rode equities & precious metals; FX/rates detracted. Carry modestly positive; merger arb selective as spreads tightened. $RSSX (stocks+gold/bitcoin) jumped. Blended managed-futures cut tracking error vs single models. $RSST $RSSB $RSSY #Quant"

"Completely wrong. A primary home doesnt pay a cash dividend imputed rent is consumption. Net housing yield after property tax insurance maintenance/capex HOA and interest is far 5%. Saved rent isnt extra return; its your shelter cost. 5:1 leverage adds rate/price/default risk. Claiming you can reliably beat the S&P XXX by 5%/yr with similar risk is nonsensical"

"Do I think equity investing is better than real estate investing Absolutely not. Over time I expect most risk assets to offer similar risk-adjusted returns. I just prefer equities because: - far less hassle/operational complexity - easy global diversification in minutes - frees up time & mental bandwidth for my family - lets me focus on my highest-ROI activity earning a strong engineering income Both can work. Pick the path that fits your skills constraints and goals. #Investing #Finance #PersonalFinance"

"REITs are a solution for RE exposure. I used to own $VNQ directly but only own them these days at market-cap weights within total market funds like $VTI and $VXUS. While it has improved since the TCJA in 2017 REIT cash dividends are still generally less tax-advantaged than qualified dividends from C-corp stocks in taxable accounts though the 199A deduction (20% of qualified REIT dividends) meaningfully softens the hit"

"@humphilomath @midpricedog On a side note Ive always wondered why specific city residential REITs dont exist for large metro areas. Would be a great hedging tool for prices in your locality"

"Why dont we have city/region-specific residential REITs or index funds that track local home-price/rent baskets so renters can hedge housing risk Whats the blocker: REIT/40 Act rules appraisal/valuation lag data quality liquidity (see thin Case-Shiller futures) or politics #RealEstate #Investing"

"Asked ChatGPT for a summary of SIMPLE IRA pushbacks: lower deferral limits vs 401k fewer features (no loans) 2-yr rollover lock w/ XX% early penalty complicates backdoor Roth (pro-rata) and rigid employer funding. Pros: easy/cheap for small firms immediate vesting Roth SIMPLE now allowed. If its the only plan take the match; mind the 2-yr rule and pro-rata. Ask HR about Roth SIMPLE match/nonelective enhanced limits fees and any path to a 401k. What else am I missing"
