"My analysis of the Audi R26 T-Tray design. These jagged slots in the T-Tray are meant to spool up some small discrete vortices and feed them into the floor system. Additionally the Delta wing style shape will build leading edge rollup (air from above wants to move under) and this rollup would detach into a vortex where you have a disconnected geometry (corner). "Heres the thing about taking aero measurements. You never want the influence of the measurement device to artificially influence the flow field. The implication could be that the data you measure is only the artificially influenced picture and not the real one. All that to say that the engineering behind even a wake rake like this is extensive and complicated. It never gets enough glaze from the tech fans IMO. Here you can see the lines moving into the cut in the diffuser sidewall. The air in the diffuser is at lower pressure so the higher energy air along the surface naturally follows the path of least resistance into the cut. This is the intention of the cut as well.
