"@dbloodworth2 GC Prime did that because the beam was a cheap vertex light actually hitting level vertices and it was highly efficient. In a modern PBR pipeline youd need real dynamic lights to mimic it which is much more expensive. so they just dont do it now"

"@crosswire18 @dbloodworth2 I don't work for the studio so I can't tell you the exact reason. But imagine the player shoots X times in quick succession. That's X dynamic lights that need to be rendered. It's much more expensive than what GC prime is doing where the lighting is "faked" per vertex"
