They are being treated as something to work with not tear out. When subsidies stay in place the insured base holds & premium revenue at UNH stays protected. "$UNH UnitedHealth Shareholder Pushes for CEO/Chair Split. A UnitedHealth shareholder group called the Accountability Board wants to separate the CEO and board chair roles. Right now Stephen Hemsley is both CEO appointed in Mayand chairman which means he runs the company and oversees himself. The group argues this setup lacks independent oversight especially with all the challenges UNH is facing. Theyve filed a proposal that if approved by shareholders would force UNH to have an independent board chair instead of combining the roles. Bloomberg says this would require a bylaw change.
