But you'll rather complain endlessly rather than see opportunities. Value of the Naira is a function of the demand and supply of naira and dollar in the FX market. Now if the Naira is gaining value that doesn't automatically mean you will be buying water melon cheaper since you're not importing water melon with dollar. So if you want price of watermelon to reduce you'll still have to balance the demand and supply dynamics - cultivate more water melon reduce supply chain cost and you'll witness significant price reduction" [X Link](https://x.com/chibuzo_mikel/status/1981502228662726680) [@chibuzo_mikel](/creator/x/chibuzo_mikel) 2025-10-23T23:25Z 14.3K followers, 3547 engagements

"In terms of growth rate both China and the Philippines are above us. China's growth has slowed down considerably from the 9-10% steady annual rates its economy was growing in the early 2000s. Today they're hovering around the X% band which is modest by the way considering that their GDP has risen to over $XX trillion. To run XX% annual real GDP growth they would need to expand their economy by at least $XXX trillion. US is unlikely to grow by that percentage which is why you see US rates hovering between 1-2%. The Philippine on the other hand have had a sustained average growth of X% for long"

"Have you factored the fact that Nigeria is just exiting a huge economic restructuring that has brought lesser nations to their knees Secondly I am not under any circumstances rejoicing that Nigeria has arrived. No we have not. We still have a very long way to go to get to the level we need to be. I simply brought deeper insights into an otherwise pedestrian posturing by Peter Obi. And part of the reason why I try to do this is because a lot of people tend to think that the dynamics around GDP growth is something that is the cross of the federal government. They forget that the akara seller is"

So anywhere you see 2025 GDP growth rate being discussed just know it's projection based on quarterly growths so far. And already Nigeria's GDP has expanded by more than X% already in Q1 and Q2 2025"

"APC-led federal government began the economic restructuring. Economic restructuring is not a bad event. It's actually what saved us from collapsing after stubbornly trying to stick with easy solutions that are not sustainable. Remember that your man Obi also promised to do away with fuel and FX subsidies"

"Benin has not overtaken us neither has South Sudan Guinea Ethiopia Rwanda and co overtaken us. It is also very wrong to say we have regressed. Yesterday we were XXX% dependant on fuel importation today we're exporting refined products and petrochemicals and hosts the largest single train refinery in the world. Surely that's not regression is it Yesterday we were generating less than 3GW of grid power and having widespread grid failures. Today we average over 5GW with 7GW transmission wheeling capacity and power availability has improved tremendously at least for band A and Band B consumers"

"Remember that definition of poverty determines number of people that would be classified as POOR. Before now if you live on an income of less than $X per day you're classified poor. In 2010 one dollar was pegged at around N168 which means if you earn like $XX a month (N5376) you're not in the category of extreme poverty. In 2017 the poverty line was pegged at $XXXX and today it's $X per day. One dollar today is N1465 which means if you earn less than N4395 per day (or N131850 per month) in Nigeria you're classified as being extremely poor. If you understand statistics you'll know what this"

"That same Internet connectivity has been evolving and expanding to cater for more users and more rural areas. That's productivity increasing (yet you question GDP growth that is built on the back of these realities). Today more people now use cable TV. Today social media is a big marketplace. These are services that form part of the GDP calculation of today"

"Those "rapid growth" you're talking about are growth that systematically happened over a decade but were never captured in the GDP computation hence the need for a Rebasing. The Rebasing doubled Nigeria's GDP. The doubling was never because of any spontaneous growth that happened under Jonathan. You are yet to show me that sector that was growing at an unprecedented rate under Jonathan. I mentioned oil refining I mentioned food production (verifiable increases in tonnage like say rice wheat maize palm oil cotton cocoa coffee etc) I mentioned manufacturing. Let me even add infrastructure. You"

"Dear @PeterObi You are back again with your very ignorant and highly misleading posturing to entertain your base. I can see that Nigeria's absence in IMF's top X fastest growing economies in Africa is your new meal. I am here however to help you understand the dynamics around growth rate rankings. First it's not easy to find economies with large GDP base being among the top fastest growing economies in the world year in year out. The US UK Japan Germany and even China now are prime examples. It doesnt make them lesser economic giants or prosperous. Now let's look at Nigeria. Nigeria's GDP is"

"It's an opportunity for people to flood the water melon farming. So if you want price of watermelon to reduce you'll still have to balance the demand and supply dynamics - cultivate more water melon reduce supply chain cost and you'll witness significant price reduction"
