"yo thanks for reading man. im glad you liked it :) about the single writer lock youre right. the main optimization here is definitely group commit (just like rocksdb does). basically have threads dump writes into a queue and have one leader thread grab the lock and flush them all to the wal in one big fsync but heres the thing. the main reason i stuck to the simple Mutex for this was purely simplicity. coordinating the wal writes + memtable updates already pretty troublesome for crash consistency. trying to do that lock free sounded like corruption (didnt think about this at the start but"
