"I think this thread identifies the real problem in robotics and it's not motors it's not hardware it's understanding. We don't need optimal conditions to interact and optimal conditions are not the default for humans. We're fuzzy by default and robots fail because we're forcing them to live in a static highly controlled world. I think the thing that makes sense to me is that teleoperation is not just a workaround it's a bridge and it's a way to inject that kind of variation at the level of the training data itself. That's the way to get robots to stop memorizing and start generalizing. I"
