The US Treasury Department has recently taken several actions to combat illicit activities, including sanctioning a China-based chemical company involved in the manufacture of synthetic opioids and a network of scam centers across Southeast Asia that steal billions of dollars from Americans. The department has also sanctioned individuals and entities for supporting terrorist financing, Brazilian Supreme Federal Court justice, and North Korea's weapons programs. Additionally, Treasury is working with Syria to reconnect its economy to the global financial system while combating terrorism financing.
