"The move alone isnt what makes the trade work. The Greeks do. You can be directionally right and still lose money if delta theta and gamma arent lined up. Deeper OTM puts are cheaper but their delta is small and decays faster so you need a perfect move and timing. I prefer keeping delta around 0.350.40. "Everyone loves the death cross until it actually starts doing its job. The last three signaled bottoms because liquidity was expanding and the Fed was easing into strength. Thats not the case now.
