For one thing I dont think BTC counts because it has no smart contracts or apps. ETH hasnt performed well this cycle but I think any new project would be happy to even have a tenth of its MC these days - weve got things struggling to sustain 1bn. Utility matters and one of the most important forms of utility is gas. You just need enough people using your chain and thats where most chains fall down. Whole point of an ICO is high risk for a high potential reward. Now you have a higher risk (due to so many projects) and a much lower potential reward. Its just not worth it and people have realised. Fun fact: ETH ICO was valued at $18M BNB ICO $15M and SOL $70M. That low base effect is exactly why they all went on to deliver insane multiples. Now most ICOs are selling random junk at $500M$2.5B+"
