This is simply not the way and it was certainly not the messaging - big promises were made and they seemingly wont be kept. Expanding the size of the state is NOT the answer. The only way is to get tax down and cut expenditure - cut cut and then cut some more. Not a popular message but its absolutely necessary. Councils and the country need to live within their means. "I sit in Parliament listening to these ministers and its all just so depressing - the vast majority of them have never run a business and it SHOWS. You would not believe how bad it is. They think work means turning up to an office between X and X answering a few emails and going home at the end of the day. Nice lunch break few coffees away from the desk probably a smoking break or several. It doesnt - not for the millions of men and women who actually create the wealth that funds the state.
