"Ironically sitting here listening to a podcast with Alan Aragon right now. Reminds me of having to explain to several friends that "muscle confusion" is BS and that they don't need to constantly switch up exercises to "keep your muscles guessing." Thanks P90X and Tony Horton. But yea on that one specifically I suspect far too many people hit the gym and stop in their famous arbitrary 8-12 rep range without ever actually having any hard ones close to failure and wonder why they're not making any progress"

"At retirement I plan to just set up an automatic monthly withdrawal that sells shares for me. Maybe by then there will also be some automation for variable withdrawals - more in up markets and less in down markets. Kitces Pfau Guyton and more have dedicated most or all of their time to researching this exact topic. I write about such ideas sometimes but I'll be diving deeper on them when it comes time to apply them to my personal circumstances. I'm still in the accumulation phase right now. Right now I have a pretty large taxable brokerage account that effectively serves as my emergency fund"

"Right. That's not what I'm saying. I'm simply pointing out that a $XX position that pays you a $X dividend leaves you with a $X position and $X in cash; you are no better off. So we can sell shares and achieve the exact same thing. And of course the popular "live off the dividends" is just a great way to unnecessarily delay retirement. To each their own I suppose"
