"It's not funny but absolutely real that many companies pay extra to remain on older Kubernetes. its insane. because the cost for EKS extended support: $0.60/hour and the cost for standard support cost: $0.10/hour so basically if your standard support costs $864/year then your extended support cost is $5184/year multiply that with XX for XX clusters. That's $51840/year but why don't they just upgrade to be honest its not always possible because of added engineering effort needed and risk involved with major upgrades. k8s upgrades impact custom tooling used manifests and dependencies many times"

"I have worked on DCDR implementations. For both on-prem as well as cloud systems. This includes DC to DR failover and DR to DC failback. And i did it as a real time drills. Guess what its same with most of DCDR experts. Because the truth is not many people face real life production level outage that needs a DR switch. So i recommend everyone to do a drill just to be ready. whether you keep a active standby or passive standby make sure you have the process ready. If you choose to keep your cost minimum then make sure to have automation to bootup DR real-time. You may have to sacrifice your"
