"Nonsense SSRIs are studied long-term (e.g. STAR*D [--] year of maintenance studies show reduced relapses in bipolar disorder/depression). In my hereditary bipolar disorder (polygenic): 20+ years of SSRI use = no "zombie stupor" only stabilization mild episodes preserved hypomanic phase (nocturnal flow). Chemical imbalance is overly simplistic but ignoring genetics/biology to criticize all medications stigmatizes those for whom they are needed. Not placebo for some it's a lifesaver.
