"As I understand its because the mine was drilled by ESSO who had many indistrial metal mines across Canada back then in the 70s-80s and MVT deposits are seen as too cold to host gold since the fluids only reach 100-200c to be mineralized with zinc and lead not hot enough for gold unless there are other very specific conditions like strong sulfidation and solid gold levels in tue basement rock (goldenville terrane). Usually MVT deposits like scotia mine have silver at best but its possible that the fluids were also just hot enough to get gold too under the right conditions. So its rare but"
