"there are many places where homes are affordable(ish) telling ppl not to buy is dumb. just the feel of freedom from landlord/super/condo accociation/etc is worth it. Sure buying for $850K with XXX% mortgage and massive R/E tax and a $5K monthly payment is not a great plan . but there are many LCL cities with decent price homes i found in Chattanooga TN a beautiful 4800 sf fully finished home for under 600K . and number of homes in 170-300K is mind-boggling in my town the smallest run-down shack starts at 600K . so under $300K is impressive and btw - generally I would not mind moving there. I"
