"We rate that as Partially True. GPGPU processing was something that both AMD and nVidia were doing at the same time. AMD did not have the money to invest into the optimizations (same thing with gaming) or for marketing but both wanted to get into the space. AMD went for what they thought would be a better ROI option which was consoles via the APU. nVidia had the money to burn on both spaces so they did.
