"HOW TO READ A CANNON Most every cannon you see in on a National Civil War Battlefield is an original cannon tube. The carriage is remanufactured most around 1900 but the tube was manufactured anywhere from 1841 to 1864. For example there are a bit over XXX original cannons on the Shiloh Battlefield. Most of those cannon tubes are 1862 period correct. They were mostly manufactured before the date of the Battle 1862. Most people go to Shiloh to see and learn about the Battlefield. Some people called "Gun Bunnies" among other things go to Shiloh to see the cannon Next time you find yourself next"

"THE GENIUS of SHELBY FOOTE (You folks sure do like Mr. Foote) After spending XX years writing a nearly 3000 page narrative of the Civil War Shelby Foote was asked to be an on camera commentator for Ken Burns documentary on the War. "PRAYING FOR MASTER There was a Texas planter who went into the Confederate Army. He left his slaves and plantation in the care of his overseer. "One night at a late hour the overseer was aroused by a noise at the (slave) "quarter". He immediately arose and went in the direction of the noise far enough to ascertain that it was the voice of prayer. Drawing still nearer he discovered that the prayer meeting was a special occasion for the benefit of the master who had "gone to the wars". Earnest prayers ascended that his health and life might be spared and that God would grant him a safe return.""
